The Feast of Corpus Christi is one of the most important days of the Church year when it comes to helping children understand the Eucharist.
If you want to celebrate well as a family, keep it simple, focused, and joyful! You don’t need a complicated day of activities, just a few intentional choices that point your children to what matters most.
The Most Important Activity
The best way to celebrate Corpus Christi is to attend Holy Mass.
If your parish offers a Eucharistic procession, make an effort to go. Seeing the Eucharist carried in solemn procession, surrounded by prayer and adoration, through the streets and fields, is unlike anything else.
Mass and the procession are the most incredible ways to celebrate this feast! Everything else you do at home should support this.
3 Simple Corpus Christi Activities for Kids
Choose one or two of these to continue the celebration at home!
1. Read Scripture Together
Keep this short and focused. Good options include:
- Luke 22 (The Last Supper)
- John 6 (adapted for younger children)
Ask one question afterward: “What did Jesus give us?” Allow the child to tell back what they heard. Help them make connections between the Gospel and the Eucharist and Mass.
2. Bake Bread
Bake a simple loaf of bread together and connect it to the Eucharist by talking about Jesus as the Bread of Life.
Discuss how, through Transubstantiation, the bread ceases to be bread and is fully the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ.
3. Do a Simple Craft
Keep this low-prep.
For example:
- Draw or color a monstrance (download a coloring page here)
- Make a stained-glass style craft with tissue paper
The goal is to give children something visual to connect with the feast.
Want a More Structured Way to Celebrate?
If you’d prefer something more cohesive (without having to plan it yourself), a family-style study can help.
Our Corpus Christi study is designed to be open-and-go and includes:
- Scripture and guided reflection
- Sacred art study
- Hymns and prayers
- Simple, meaningful activities
It’s a straightforward way to celebrate the feast more deeply without adding extra work to your week.
