What is the Confession Unit Study?
The Confession Unit Study is a 10-week Catholic study for children ages 7–17 that explores the Sacrament of Confession, also known as Reconciliation or Penance, through Scripture, Catholic teaching, and thoughtful reflection.
Rather than simply teaching children the what and how of Confession (although that's included, too), we dive deeper into the why, helping children understand Confession as a beautiful gift of Christ’s mercy and an invitation to return to the Father’s house.
Anchored in the Parable of the Prodigal Son, this Catholic homeschool study explores the Sacrament through the various titles given to it by the Church, helping children grow in their understanding of sin, repentance, mercy, forgiveness, healing, and the abundant love of God.
Who Is It For?
This study is designed for Catholic families with children ages 7–17, whether you homeschool or simply want to deepen your children’s understanding of the Catholic faith at home.
It is especially wonderful for children preparing for First Confession (First Reconciliation), but it is not limited to sacramental preparation. Use it for ongoing catechesis, family faith formation, or whenever your family wants to grow deeper in understanding and love for this beautiful Sacrament.

How Does the Study Work?
The Confession Unit Study is designed to be completed over 10 weeks, but you can easily adjust the pace to fit your family. Linger on a lesson, move more quickly, or spread the study out over a longer period of time.
Our goal isn't simply for your children to know how to go to Confession. We want them to understand why they should want to go and to recognize the incredible mercy waiting for them in the Sacrament.
