How We Schedule Our Week So We Can Keep the Sabbath Holy
We have been talking about the importance of rest lately, and I think one way we do this is by taking the sabbath seriously.
God commands us to rest, yet so many of us busy ourselves with (important!) tasks that never end. This leaves our wheels spinning and our souls weary.
In the last few years, my husband and I have labored to observe the sabbath more fully. We are both hard workers, and with a home and four kids, the work is never finished. So it is a great task for us to stop and be still for an entire day. But we are committed to following the Lord in this way!
We will be working on this for many more years to come, I'm sure, but here are some things that have helped us reserve Sundays for rest:
🟤 I clean the house on Fridays.
🟤 I prep school for the following week on Fridays.
🟤 I grocery shop on Fridays.
🟤 I prep food for the following week on Saturdays.
🟤 The boys do yard work on Saturday.
These rhythms have and will shift over the years, but I find them to be good anchors for preserving the sabbath.
